Milan hides a dark face, guarded in its history and legends. Ghosts will be the absolute protagonists of this guided tour.
Simplon Park and the mysterious stories of the Veiled Lady
What better place to bring our guided tour to life than the Castello Sforzesco? Crossing the Simplon Park, the unwary beware of the ghost of the Veiled Lady, dressed in black, her face covered by a veil. Her footsteps make no sound along the paths and leave behind a smell of violets and a sense of intense cold. She exudes beauty and charm but hides terrible omens of death-our guides will tell you why. But along with this mysterious lady, other spectres roam the Castello Sforzesco: that of Ludovico il Moro, who flees away holding his treasure in his hands; that of Beatrice d’Este, whose screams can still be heard emitted when she bled to death trying to give birth to her third child; or that of Bona di Savoia, who weeps in anguish over her loved ones. Between the porticoes runs a woman trying to get poison to kill the Sforza: who will it be?
Stories of intrigue and ghosts in the Milanese court
Many terrifying mysteries and disturbing intrigues shroud the history of the dynasty that ruled Renaissance Milan, starting with the murder of Galeazzo Maria in the churchyard of the Basilica of San Stefano. The legitimate successor, Gian Galeazzo Maria, was only 9 years old at the time and so his mother Bona di Savoia, who became regent, relied on a trusted man , the cruel Cicco Simonetta. He waged war against Galeazzo Maria’s brothers, after exiling them because they were undermining the power of Bona and the young Gian Galeazzo. He won it over Ludovico il Moro, Galeazzo Maria’s brother, who finally had Simonetta beheaded. It was the Moor himself who took the reins of the Duchy, but his ambitious dream was destined to be shattered…. Let our guides tell you the end of the story as you discover Milan’s most mysterious past.
