At the beginning of the 20th century, Europe rests on the comforts and melancholies of the Belle Époque, as refined and sweet as the artistic style that spread in those years. We can relive it in the Porta Venezia district and more precisely in that area known as the“Quadrilatero del Silenzio,” which overlooks the Indro Montanelli Gardens where the Milan Planetarium is also located. The Art Nouveau style transformed many Milanese mansions into true works of art, rich in lush floral decorations and sinuous lines both immediately visible on the façade and hidden in the fairy-tale interiors. The streets we will travel around Corso Venezia, in the romantic Quadrilatero del silenzio, the city’s elegant heart since the Napoleonic era, hide secluded corners overlooked by houses embellished with wrought iron and floral friezes, reminders of a nature threatened by the advance of industrial society. Amidst ornate historic mansions and 1930s villas, in the company of our tour guides, we will lose ourselves in the narrow streets of Porta Venezia, arriving at a very special place where we can lose ourselves silently in the immensity of the cosmos: the Planetarium.
