Palazzo Reale presents the first monographic exhibition on Giuseppe De Nittis, featuring some 90 paintings from prestigious Italian and foreign collections. The exhibition celebrates his key role in nineteenth-century European art, highlighting comparisons with artists such as Manet and the Impressionists. De Nittis captured modern life in Paris and London, becoming one of the greatest Italian painters abroad. His extraordinary career, cut short prematurely at the age of 38, is explored through an exhibition spanning two decades. His achievements stem from his genius, his ability to confront the artistic currents of his time, and his openness to outside influences, including Japanese art.

In the renowned galleries of the Palazzo Reale in Milan, fifty-two works of art from the prestigious collections of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris explore the lives and contributions of Paul Cézanne and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, eminent figures of Impressionism, which celebrates its 150th anniversary on April 15, 2024. A journey through their most celebrated masterpieces, from portraits to landscapes, still lifes to bathing scenes. The exhibition also includes a section highlighting the impact and influence of Cézanne and Renoir on the next generation of artists, comparing two works by the masters with paintings by Pablo Picasso. The exhibition is curated by Cécile Girardeau, curator of the Musée d’Orsay, and Stefano Zuffi, art historian.
