The New Quarters: a corporate event in the greenest Milan

In the collective imagination, Milan is the city of fashion, shopping and design. It is the cradle of a rich historical and artistic heritage scattered in patches throughout the city streets. But Milan is also much more. Milan is a city enlivened by a fervent futuristic spirit, of which the districts of Porta Nuova and CityLife, the so-called New Districts of Milan, are undoubtedly the most tangible and representative expression, to be discovered during a corporate event that is different from the usual. The result of an unprecedented urban redevelopment project, the Quartieri Nuovi are the symbol of the ever-changing Milan that rises upward, climbing through the sky to reach the clouds, with its futuristic skyscrapers that have radically altered Milan’s skyline, and still continue to shape its shapes and heights. Guests, in the company of trained architects, stroll with their noses to the sky on a guided tour among the soaring, transparent piers of Milan’s dizzying new skyscrapers.

Milan rising to the top

Looking upward, participants observe with astonished curiosity the almost bizarre creativity of the shapes of these glass sculptures signed by internationally renowned Archistars: the frames of the Unicredit Tower in Piazza Gae Aulenti, which get thinner and thinner by following a concentric motion toward the highest point in the sky; the multifaceted surfaces of Torre Diamante, with blue and oil, pink and orange tones changing from dawn to dusk; the three giants that dominate Piazza Tre Torri in CityLife: the perfect verticality of Torre Isozaki, the sinuous twist of Torre Hadid, and the curvilinear perfection of Torre Libeskind, still under construction. From CityLife to Porta Nuova or vice versa: after a stroll at the foot of the architectural giants of the Milan of the future, the tour continues on two wheels between one neighborhood and the next, following the skyscrapers making themselves smaller from the windows of a dedicated shuttle, or, to add an extra dash of internationality and make the tour even more exclusive, from the highest floor of the only authentic original 1960s London Bus double-decker in circulation in Milan.

The Milan of green architecture

The Quartieri Nuovi is the perfect location in Milan for a corporate event under the banner of sustainability and green; here, in fact, green creeps in and blends with architecture and urban design. It can be perceived in the harmony of the Three Towers with the new surrounding park that wraps around them; in the lush vegetationthat creeps between the balconies of Stefano Boeri’s Bosco Verticale, a fascinating and ambitious international award-winning project that pushes the lush foliage of the trees ever higher into the light; in the extraordinary botanical variety of the 10 hectares of greenery of the Library of Trees, green lung of the Porta Nuova District and a unique example in Italy of a contemporary garden with innovative design. Participants weave a tacit spatial dialogue with nature and the elements of urban design: as they stroll among the eccentric installations scattered in the CityLife park during Milan Design Week, or walk through the checkerboard of green windows and the circular forests of the Library of Trees, among flowering meadows, white paths, aromatic and aquatic plants, hedges, shrubs, bulbs and creepers.

The roots of innovation

But although in the New Quarters the city of Milan turns its gaze toward the future, here the old and the new coexist in harmony. In the shadow of the skyscrapers of the CityLife District, participants are delighted by the water features of the Fountain of the Four Seasons, designed in the 1920s to coincide with the opening of the historic former Milan Trade Fair, and which remains today to symbolize that transition of Milan from historic to futuristic city. The innovative architectural experiments of the Porta Nuova District are a counterpoint to the cobblestone alleys, historic stores and the many establishments and restaurants with genuine Milanese character of the adjacent Brera District.

Architectural excellence and culinary excellence

After savoring Milan’s innovative architectural excellence, participants can refresh themselves and be tempted by the culinary excellence of Milanese tradition, which is also found at typical restaurants in CityLife and Porta Nuova. Or again, in concert with the international connotation of the experience, guests can move from neighborhood to neighborhood aboard the original scenic double-decker London Bus exclusively for them, taking advantage of the moment for an afternoon tea or aperitif on the go.
