Ca’ Granda Oasis. Open Doors June 19 and 20, 2021

We are very happy to participate in the Open Doors at Oasi Ca’ Granda initiative by offering free visits toMirasole Abbey and Cascina Battivacco. Two not-to-be-missed appointments within the rich schedule of events aimed at introducing Lombard families to the wonderful beauty of Oasi Ca’ Granda.

Porte Aperte all’Oasi Ca’ Granda is part of a larger project of cultural enhancement of one of the most important rural heritages around Milan, rich in abbeys, churches, and historic farmsteads, all of which can be reached through both pedestrian and bicycle routes.

A project that NEIADE Tour & Events has espoused as always with the passion of those who are in love with Milan and the historical-artistic (and here also so much natural!) heritage that surrounds it, makes it ever more alive and confirms it as an evergreen Italian city.

NEIADE Tour & Events was born and continues to live to give voice and spirit to the beauty of Milan; we could not miss the opportunity we have been offered to also be a partner for the cultural activities of this marvel, well aware that lending a hand, communicating and studying the heritage of theCa’ Granda Oasis will not only be a pleasure for us but will offer the community new possibilities to get closer to it, to know its history, to appreciate its immense cultural and historical heritage as well as, of course, its natural heritage.

Because the Ca’ Granda Oasis is an integral part of Milan’s history, it has been rooted for centuries in the spirit of our city, marked by hospitality, charity and benevolence toward others.

That’s why we at Neiade Tour & Events are on board of this project as well, because we believe in Milan, its history and its future, far from the Covid, close to the whole world and always and in any case grateful and mindful of its History.

TheCa’ Granda Oasis, a very important rural heritage on the outskirts of Milan, owes its name to theMaggiore Hospital of Milan, today’s Polyclinic, which, founded in 1456, was later called “Ca’ Granda” by all: ca’ granda, big house that never closes its doors, that all people shelter and care for, regardless of wealth, age, origin or illness. In the Ca’ Granda, from its origin, everyone could find shelter, not only the sick who needed actual care, but also so many needy people, hundreds of destitute people who were welcomed and fed by the Hospital.

Almost from the very beginning, in the late fifteenth century, precisely to keep this spirit alive, a great many benefactors, nobles and others, donated entire plots of land and farmsteads to the Hospital so that from the rents it could draw money and from the crops the produce of the land with which to feed the hungry and sick.

And if soon, in order to hold on to that vocation, Ca’ Granda had to give up many of its donations in order to obtain the money that would allow the hospital to continue its mission, some of the ancient donations have come down to us under the aegis of this institution and now constitute our Ca’ Granda Oasis, a place of history and nature, of unspoiled lands and places to get to know and admire, an excellent territorial enhancement project of the Ca’ Granda Heritage Foundation-which, we are sure, will soon become the permanent destination for schools, Lombard families and many tourists, ready to be amazed at how much Milan is also green as well as beautiful, historical, cultural, pleasant to live in and rich in places to get to know.

Open Doors, June 19 and 20, we look forward to seeing you!

Also, check your calendar, there will be many new things on the calendar and some are already there and bookable.
